Amarillo College experience

Working for Amarillo College was one of my greatest pleasures.  Being a part of the Student Support Services team was the blessing of a lifetime.  The staff at Moore County Campus was a family that worked together for the good of the students and their families.  One of my co-workers and I looked forward every week to leading Peace Bible Club.  While serving as an Advising Associate I advised Allied Health students and assisted them in applying
for the different medical programs, as well as a number of other majors.  Attending pinning ceremonies for the nursing students was a great joy.  Before I retired I was privileged to
celebrate with one of my students who had graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  SSS students who excelled in their studies were honored at Top Ten Ceremonies each fall which I organized, and I coordinated with our team to prepare Express Success dinners.  Every semester the SSS advisors transported first generation students to four-year universities for tours and to register as transfer students. Financial literacy was taught to inform students how to manage their money.  The federal government grant, Student Support Services, had very good outcomes in persistence, academic standing, graduation, and graduation/transfer.

Irene loves God, her husband of 51 years, her 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren, the city of Amarillo, the state of Texas and the USA!

Amarillo College will celebrate its

100th birthday in 2029!!

Education

What are students being taught at Amarillo College?                                                                                                               What are they being prepared for … workplace/higher education/life?

Accountability and transparency are necessary for instructors, so students will be educated and not indoctrinated with far left agendas.

Finances

Where are the finances coming from and going to?

Where can the budget cuts be made instead of raising taxes?

Accountability and transparency are necessary for where the funds are coming from, what requirements are attached to the money, and whether the money is being distributed fairly and wisely.

Values

Why did Amarillo College adopt the DEI agenda?

Why is Amarillo College headed in that direction?

Accountability and transparency are necessary for determining whose values are being transferred to students, staff, and faculty in diversity, equity, and inclusion training.
